''...Let us cast off the works of darkness...but put on the Lord Jesus Christ and make no provision for the flesh to fulfill its lust." (Romans 13:12, 14)
As Paul finishes his extraordinary theological presentation in Romans 9 - 10, he then moves into the section of the epistle that I call the ''therefore.'' The great apostle is exhorting us to live holy lives in light of the incredible provision that God has made for us.
The frustration of this exhortation is that we are unable to live holy lives. Only Jesus has been able to accomplish that goal. The good news is that we have the additional authority to ''cast off' evil works of darkness and to ''put on the Lord Jesus Christ,'' who alone can produce holiness. This is the key to everything in your life today.
Consider again the Lord Jesus casting out those who had perverted His temple. Remember that God said, ''The Lord is in His Holy temple. God is patient and longsuffering, but God will never compromise His holiness. He said, ‘‘Be ye Holy for I am Holy''. Again He said, ‘‘This is the will of God, even your Holiness''.
We sing that wonderful hymn, ''Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty''. That spirit that lives in you is the Holy Spirit. He exhorts us to lift Holy hands. When Moses saw the bush that burned and was not consumed, he stood back and said, ''I  am standing on Holy ground." This experience changed his life forever. The temple that fulfills the purpose and plan of God will be a Holy Temple. When you are a Holy Temple He will give you: hatred toward sin... an honest humility towards self... and a hot heart for souls!
God had made His Temple a place of prayer. Through holiness your temple will be a house of prayer. Consider today what thieves are robbing God of His glory and purpose in your life.  What is stealing your purity and God's glory?
Today is the day to put off the works of darkness and put on the Lord Jesus!
Consider carefully, and prayerfully, the Republic of Azerbaijan. It may surprise you to know that there are approximately 9 million souls in this Asian country; 97% are literate with 16 different languages. The most common is Azerbaijani.
Pray especially for believers who are mostly Russian speaking. This is an advantage in some areas, but makes it very difficult for them in other areas. Pray for their witness to the majority Muslim population, that it may be with humility, sensitivity, and love.
''A baptism of holiness, a demonstration of godly living, is the crying need of our day."
