''Therefore, my brethren, you also have become dead to the law through the body of Christ, that you may be married to another;  to Him who was raised from the dead, that we should bear fruit to God." (Romans 7:4)      ·
The interesting story is told of a dear lady who was widowed. She was deeply grieved at the loss of her husband of many years. After a reasonable length of time, however, she decided to remarry a wonderful man who had come into her life. They were deeply in love and took an extended honeymoon. The honeymoon lasted for several weeks, but finally they returned home. It had been decided that they would live in the home of the wife. Much to the surprise of her new husband, he discovered that this woman had embalmed her previous husband and had him encased in glass.  There he was in the living room as a constant reminder of her previous marriage. Her new husband was irritated and demanded that the body of her previous husband be removed from the home.
This new husband said, '' I am glad that you loved him when he was alive, but he is now dead and it is time to remove his corpse from our home. You are now free from him and married to me." She finally agreed and they had  a  wonderful marriage relationship.
It is the same way with us. Before our conversion we were married to the law and under its bondage. Now our new relationship is to another - our Lord Jesus Christ. That's why Paul said in Romans 7:6 ''Now we have been delivered from the law. Having died to the old man, we may serve in the newness of the spirit and not in the oldness of the letter."
This truth is really the key to personal revival.  It involves seven steps:
Realize that the old man is dead. It is sad that some who are in Christ remain slaves to sin. Someone asked about a chicken whose head had been cut off and yet it was still moving. The answer was ''the chicken is dead, but he doesn't know it." Paul said in Romans 6:6, ''Our old man was crucified with Him that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin."
Reckon yourself to be dead to sin. This is an act of the will by which you claim the truth of God's Word, that it is indeed true in your life.
Refuse to let sin reign in your body.
Rest yourself in the security and power of God.  Trust the Lord Jesus to live His life through you .  As the eagle soars to the highest altitude without exerting much energy, you too can soar to the highest altitude in the energy and power of the Holy Spirit.
Remember that God has delivered you from the slavery of sin and set you free to become a slave of righteousness. (Romans 6:17-18)
Reproduction is now God's plan for your life.  You are to reproduce the likeness of Jesus in yourself and   others.
Revival is the result of this principle being applied in your life.
You no longer have to remove cobwebs when the spider is dead; by the grace of God the spider is dead.
Pray today for the Pacific region of the world. The largest country here, of course, is Australia with many smaller islands joining New Zealand and New Guinea to make up this region. The Pacific was one of the first areas to be evangelized in the modem Protestant missionary era. By the end of the 19th Century, most of the pacific region had become Christian through the sacrificial labors of early pioneer missionaries. Missionary casualties were high due to disease, violent death, and cannibalism. Now, the Christian church needs genuine revival and a re-start, for evangelistic fervor to reach this part of the world.  Pray today for the pacific region.
''Revival is no more a miracle than a crop of wheat. Revival comes from Heaven when heroic souls enter the conflict, determined to win or die - or, if need be, to win and die!   ''
