''But He answered and said, It is written, man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God." (Matthew 4:4)
If our physical diet is not well balanced, or if our digestive system is not functioning properly, our bodies will decline in health. Similarly, if we do not or cannot take in the full value of the spiritual diet offered to us in the Scriptures, we become spiritually disabled.
In His encounter with Satan, every response from our Lord was taken from Holy Scripture. Jesus realized that the Word of God was the sword of the Spirit and His greatest weapon against the enemy. The Bible is the truth needed by a lost world today. Every believer needs to understand what the Bible is, the importance of its application in our lives, and realize how essential it is to touch a lost world for Christ.
For centuries, the vast majority of people in the Christian world accepted the Scriptures as the Holy Bible and believed it to be God's revealed written message to mankind. They believed it was inerrant (free of mistakes), and it could not be wrong on any subject [Infallible], and these words came from God Himself through specially chosen prophets (inspired). Jewish believers had held this same opinion from centuries before with respect to the Old Testament. The belief that the Bible was God's written Word and free from error seemed to be the Bible's own claim for itself as well as the authoritative claim of Christ Himself.
''All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.'' (II Timothy 3:16)
In this passage ''all scripture'' refers to the entire Bible, from the creation of mankind in Genesis to the new heaven and new earth in the book of Revelation. ''All scripture'' refers to the written Word. The truth of Scripture means it is certain that God's Holy Spirit so guided ''holy men of God'' that the words they wrote, which have been preserved as our Bible, were 'kept free from error. This means that the Bible in its original manuscripts said what God wished to be said and was written error free.
''All Scripture'' refers to the 39 Old Testament Books and the 27 New Testament Books. ''By inspiration of God'' (Theopneustos) literally means ''God breathed." The Author of the Bible is declared to be God Himself as He ''breathed' ' the words to the mouths and pens of His chosen prophets. On one occasion, Jeremiah declared ''His word was in my heart like a burning fire shut up in my bones,”
How shameful it is for a child of God to neglect to focus daily upon the pure, powerful, prophetic Word of God. How foolish to look to the daily newspaper which tells us what happened yesterday, full of error and neglect The Word of God, which tells us what will happen tomorrow, is full of absolute truth.  May His Holy Word be a daily part of your walk with God.
As you spend time daily in prayer for a lost world, you must remember that prayer not only changes things, situations, and people; it also changes those who pray. Through prayer, you can know the will of God for your life. In Matthew 9:35-38 Jesus challenged His disciples to pray for laborers to be thrust out into the harvest. Pray today for God to change your heart and allow you to know your part in sharing the light in God 's Word with a dark world.  Pray for the world.
''The turning point in my ministry was when I got alone with God and looked at the Scripture and made a commitment that I would believe the Word of God no matter what else happened, and it would be the sole guide for my faith and practice."  Billy Graham
