''For we walk by faith, not by sight." (II Corinthians 5:7)
Is the focus of your Christian life on the moments of inspiration that you enjoyed on the mountaintop, or is your focus on the Master Himself who is the Source of those moments? Another way to put the same question is, ''Are you living by faith or by sight?''
One of my great temptations is the desire to receive recognition for ministry and success in serving the Lord. There is a certain sign that, in those moments, I am more interested in the applause that comes from men. I am walking by sight and not by faith.
It is God's desire that we do our work as hidden people who are not in the spotlight.  None of us would be hidden spiritually if we could help it. Can we do our work when it seems that God has sealed up Heaven, and nobody here is giving praise? A self-assured saint with loads of self-confidence is of no value to God. He is abnormal, unfit for daily life, and completely unlike God. We are here, not as immature angels, but as men and women to do the work of this world, and we are to do it with an infinitely greater power to withstand the struggle because we have been born from above.
If our constant desire is for those moments of great inspiration and we become obsessed with the moments instead of the Master, it is God's plan for us that we get our eyes off the moments and the results and stay focused on Him. Because He is faithful and powerful, you only have to be available. You can trust Him with the results and the harvest. He is the Lord of the Harvest.  That is what it means to walk by faith and not by sight.
This world may not only reject you, but laugh at you in the process. Some face even physical harm and others die as martyrs because of their faithfulness. But listen carefully and you will hear it...the applause of Heaven! Look up and you may see it .. .a great ''thumbs up'' in the heavenlies. You are on the front page of the Heavenly Gazette. That is better than earthly moments of praise.
In Chile, there are now more than 18 million people, but the Chilean church lacks missionary vision, and they have a great harvest field ready to be reaped. This especially includes the Mapuche, which is the largest and most independent of Chile's indigenous people.  Pray especially today for Gospel outreach to the Mapuche.
